I’m Domenica Burroughs, the front-end web developer and blogger behind Disegna Sacchetta; a small business, blog, and web design resource for creative entrepreneurs.

When I am asked to describe myself I typically answer, “a quick and eager learner who is willing to take on a new challenge”. Although the majority of my experience is in front-end development, and my CMS of choice is WordPress, I am eager and willing to use those skills to best suit your needs.

I have been dabbling in the web-design world since 2009. My favourite part about the web development process is that you are constantly learning and there are always new opportunities with the advances in coding languages.

From a young age I always wanted to be my own boss, and own something that I truly believed in. Being involved in the blogging world helped me to find out what I really love to do, web development. Through this I discovered the opportunity to start freelancing. Through this site I get to do exactly what I love and am passionate about.

Currently I am studying at the University of Winnipeg. I recently graduated with my Bachelor of Art in Georgaphy, and will complete my Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Computer Science in June 2018.

Disegna Sacchetta was derived from many influential people and parts of my life. Sacchetta is my Nonno (grandfather’s) last name. I was named after him when I was born because apparently I looked like him. I find my identity as a person really lies with my Nonno & Nonna. In their ealy adult years they both, individually and at different times moved from Italy to Canada, without any family members. They met in Winnipeg and fell in love. Their strength, courage, and dedication to family and education has really had an impact on who I am today. They are my inspiration for following my dreams and looking at the bright side no matter what the outcome may be. Disegna is the Italian word for design. I grew up in an Italian household, and the culture is really what has formed me into the strong woman I am today. Therefore I dedicate my love of creating and dream to two loves of my life, my grandparents, and my cultural background.
